CINDA (Centro Interuniversitario de Desarrollo), Universidad de los Andes, Universidad del Norte and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana organised the 16th Annual Convention of Vice-rectors of Administration and Finances entitled “Cybersecurity in Universities”.
Where and when
The Convention took place from the 28th to the 30th September at Universidad del Norte, Universidad de los Andes and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
The topic of the Convention: “Cybersecurity in Universities”
The topic of cybersecurity in Universities is particularly significant since digital environments on which teaching, research and administrative management are based are constantly exposed to cyberattacks.
Universities have a large quantity of private information of students, graduates and employees.
The heterogeneity and complexity of these systems require the implementation of generalized restrictive controls, just like in other sectors. Therefore there is an increasing need for an institutional treatment of cybersecurity: to carry out strict, institutional, integrated, interdisciplinary and innovative cyberattacks management plans.
The objectives of the convention included:

Sharing good practices in the management of cyberattacks in Universities based on practices of other institutions and sectors

The creation of a guidance document in order to set up a protocol of monitoring, update and continuation

To analyze the current situation and the projections of the impact of demographic change in Universities and student finances

To be aware of the advancements and the projection of the Administration and Universities Finances Monitoring Agency (Observatorio de Administración y Finanzas Universitarias) about the Net, in the context of its new period under the guidance of Universidad del Pacífico

The Strategic Centre for Security, Risk and Vulnerability (Unige) took part in the convention on Wednesday 29th September 2022 with a presentation entitled “Cybersecurity in the University of Genoa and the Centre for Security, Risk and Vulnerability” (“Ciberseguridad en la Universidad de Génova y el Centro en seguridad, riesgo y vulnerabilidad”) within the list of presentations: Cybersecurity.
