The RECONECT project aims at enhancing the European reference framework on Nature-based Solutions for hydro-meteorological risk reduction in natural and rural areas. RECONECT wants to demonstrate the effectiveness of a sustainable approach to hydro-meteorological risk mitigation through NbS interventions for floods prevention and slope stabilization, integrated with environmental monitoring activities and stakeholders involvement.
Events
All members of the academic community were invited to attend the Annual Poster Session of the PhD in Security, Risk and Vulnerability that took place on Friday 22nd March 2024 starting from 3.30 p.m. at Albergo dei Poveri (Department of Political and International Sciences- UniGe), room 3.
This edition included also the bestowal of the Best Poster Award!
The rich program included the interventions by Roberto Baldoni (National Cybersecurity Agency) and Nicole Brunetti (UniGe and IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino of Genoa).
The Strategic Centre Security, Risk and Vulnerability organised a conference entitled "Dual Use - Knowledge and Technology Export" that took place on Friday 16th February 2024 starting from 2 p.m. at Albergo dei Poveri (UniGe).
The participants included the President of the SRV Centre, Prof. Andrea Pirni, Prof. Fabrizio Barberis (SRV Centre - Delegate of the Rector for the Dual Use topic), Prof. Chiara Enrica Tuo (SRV Centre - DIGI) and many external speakers.
The event entitled "Metropolis and environmental risk - taxonomies and ontologies" took place in the context of the Course "Political sociology and environmental risk" with the participation of Massimiliano Pittore (Group Leader - Climate and Disaster Risk / Eurac Bolzano).

AI is increasingly turning into a disruptive technology. Not only does it concern the physical aspects of human life, but also the intellectual and moral ones. Consequences on social relations, economic life as well as political life promise to be deep and unpredictable.
Modern society is facing a growing number of complex and interconnected challenges, from climate change, natural hazards, wars, to a range of anthropogenic industrial, economic and environmental threats.
In order to better understand how to analyse risks, the Disaster and Emergency Management Course at Coventry University hosted a series of 8 online training seminars between October and November 2023, with the support of the Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre and the Cooperation Network of Risk, Safety and Security Studies (CONRIS).
The Strategic Centre Security, Risk and Vulnerability (UniGe) took part in the conference entitled "Hydrogen and Railways: a global perspective" in the context of the second edition of Hydrogen Expo, in Piacenza from the 17th to the 19th May 2023.
The conference included interventions by speakers of the University of Genoa and of Italian and foreign enterprises of the railway sector.

The project entitled "L'interesse nazionale nell'economia delle aziende" ("National interest in business economics") by the Department of Economics and the Centre for Security, Risk and Vulnerability of the University of Genoa, was presented on 20th April 2023.
Given the multidisciplinary relevance of the topic it was possible to discuss with the presents about eventual collaborations.

This series of meetings was dedicated to the cure and the need for defining new organisations of charity models in a period when research is offering important therapy perspectives for some harsh pathological conditions, especially cancer and age-related diseases .
The arrival of Artificial Intelligence in the biomedical field has opened new frontiers for research as well as in the possibility of an early diagnosis and cure for many complex diseases.
CONRIS organised the 2023 Summer School entitled "Modern challenges of crisis management". The typical challenges for Mediterranean countries include: fire protection, maritime emergencies, protection of cultural heritage and urban security. The Summer School was organized around these topics with a combination of lectures, case studies and practical experiences and was addressed to I and II level students and PhD students, that were entitled to 2 ECTS credits.

The event "The new challenges of Family Law between process reform and Artificial Intelligence", sponsored by the Strategic Centre Security, Risk, Vulnerability, took place at Genoa Bar Association.

UniGe took part in the kick-off meeting of the PNRR RETURN-multi-Risk sciEnce for resilienT commUnities undeR a changiNg climate project on Thursday 1st December 2022 in Naples.
RETURN is an extended partnership on environmental risks financed by PNRR that includes 26 partners. The objective is to create a network around the topic of an integrated management of natural risks and impacts of climate change.

CINDA (Centro Interuniversitario de Desarrollo), Universidad de los Andes, Universidad del Norte and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana organised the 16th Annual Convention of Vice-rectors of Administration and Finances entitled “Cybersecurity in Universities”.
Within the activities performed in the scientific and educational field by the Strategic Centre for Security, Risk, Vulnerability, the specializing course ERIC - Environmental and risk communication has been activated.
A delegation of students of the University of Genoa, through the SRV Centre, took part in the European Student Conference for Risk, Safety and Security on 21st October 2022.
The selected students and graduates of Universities in the whole Europe presented their theses on topics related to risk and security.
Each Athenaeum could send up to 3 representatives selected by a specific CONRIS commission for the presentation on 21st October 2022.
